Protecting key workers
If you have been following our facebook page, you will know we are focused on providing face shield frames for key workers during this COVID19 pandemic.
Our 3D printer has been non stop printing Prusa face shield frames. These are then carefully bagged up and shipped off to a regional hub set up by 3DCrowd where they are then distributed to key workers over the UK.
A big part of this is strict hygiene when handling the products. As such the surfaces are kept clean and hands always thoroughly cleaned whenever any part of a print needs to be handled.
Where possible we are also using PET-G which is the most suitable material from a food hygiene perspective.
Whilst deliveries of more filament are being patiently waited on, we have made use of anything we have around the workshop. As such the colour variety has not been boring at all!
With the printer churning out frames day and night, we are quickly producing frames ready for delivery and even got the opportunity to deliver 20 complete face shields to Coningsby surgery which were gratefully accepted.
If you want to read more on this build, you can head over to Third Projection where there is a more detailed blog on this project in a diary format
A final footnote:
If you want to support or join in on this cause you can head to 3DCrowd who have a go fund me page linked on their site and support our efforts too with a £1 for every print from your donations. Or there may be a group in your country too if you are outside of the UK.
If you want to donate directly to my own effort you can get in contact or just use paypal gavin.heggs@hotmail.com .
Thank you for any support you can give, with a frame costing around £2-3 each to produce, the costs do add up.
